  • Do you know anyone who speaks 4 or more languages?
  • What do you think are the advantages of speaking many languages? What challenges might polyglots face?

Before you Start: 🎧Listen to the audio and fill in the blanks using the words and  phrases from the vocabulary: daunting, achievable, enhance, open many doors, personal growth, admired,                                 unwavering, cognitive abilities, enhances,  immerse, and enriching.

2. Why do people want to learn multiple languages?
Do you think being a polyglot can be enriching? In what ways?

3. What challenges do polyglots face when learning new languages? Have you experienced any of these challenges yourself?

4. How do you think knowing multiple languages can benefit someone’s life? Do you think it makes it easier to connect with people from other cultures?

5. What strategies do polyglots use to learn languages?
Have you tried any methods to immerse yourself in a language, like watching movies or traveling?

6. Do you believe that some languages are more useful to learn than others? Which languages do you think are the most enriching or useful for travel, work, or friendships?

Objective: Practice research skills by finding real-world and practical information on language learning.

 

Task: research a famous polyglot and find how this person learned multiple languages, including any unique strategies they used.
